Why Would it Close?
Why would Antelope Canyon close? During 2020, the Navajo Nation has been severely challenged with Covid-19, and most everything on their land has been closed until sometime next year. Antelope Canyon, located on the Navajo Reservation, is part of the closure. At other times of the year, sometimes Antelope Canyon is closed if there is a chance of rain, perhaps even many miles away. Since nature does its carving of the canyons from natural flash floods, this can cause potential danger during a downpour. At times it may be good weather in Page and Antelope Canyon area but could be threatening rain upstream in the wash system. During these times, Antelope Canyon may be closed, even though visitors do not see the potential danger firsthand.

They are generally quite easy to walk through. The most challenging thing is taking enough pictures to try to capture what you see in person. It seems that each time you take a step or turn your head, you will see a new angle that you want to capture.
